Pushing through

I think I'm well on my way out of my recent running slump. Last night after work I hit up the gym for some light cardio and strength training. I'm progressing nicely through the first set of workouts in New Rules and I'm starting to see some definition not only in my arms but my abs as well. This morning I didn't even have to really drag myself out of bed. I woke up moments before the alarm and quickly got ready for my run. I was surprised at myself for being able to finish a speedy (for me anyway) 5-mile run at avg 9:58 per mile. It felt good although now I can really tell the difference between a nicely fueled post-work run and a lesser-fueled morning run. Before I used to only run in the AM because last summer it was too hot any other time so I didn't really recognize the difference too much. Running after work now definitely feels better and I have more energy then but sometimes the schedule doesn't permit. Today's reason is yoga at 6:30. I felt really good after last week's class and I'm looking forward to tonight's stretch session. Of course they're now calling for more snow tomorrow afternoon/evening so I'm glad it's a gym day and not an outside run day. The temps are supposed to be above freezing though so I doubt there will be much accumulation to speak of.

Awesome that you're out of your workout slump! Those are some fast miles. I hope that yoga goes well tonight. I can't wait until you run your marathon. You have a virtual cheering section all the way over here in CA!

Thanks Michelle for your virtual support, it is greatly appreciated! I'll admit I'm still nervous about the whole marathon thing!

New Rules-I think I'm going to have to buy that! I'm tired of my old workout book. Thanks for that!
