Welcoming October

I think this is my favorite month of the year. It used to be September but now that September stays hot for so much longer (yay, climate change) I've decided October is my favorite month. Fall is just getting into full swing and once the leaves have fallen our view of the Washington Monument from our balcony will return.

It's been a busy week. Tonight, Jake and I are headed down to our favorite area bar, Tortoise and Hare, for dinner and a few of these (although sadly I can't actually get Bulmers in the states and T&H doesn't serve it's non-Irish doppleganger, Magners):
I actually really like the composition of this photo and I might take it on my first day of photo class next week as we were asked to bring about 5 photos with us that are somewhat recent. So speaking of beer, I'm looking forward to Oktoberfest in Shirlington tomorrow. We're actually going to try taking the ART bus 87 that services from Shirlington to the Pentagon and back so we don't have to worry about parking, etc. I hope it works out as I like the idea of having that as an alternative to get over to that neighborhood. I'm going to pound out an 8-miler first. I would say that I'm excited to start running again, but I kinda already did. I realized last night that I missed it so much this week that I got up and did a quick 4-miles this morning just to get my muscles moving again before tomorrow's longer run. It felt wonderful!
I have been working like crazy to finish all of these data reports for 50-some cities here at work. It's been a change from my usual map-making routine and very educational. I'm going to pound out the last 5 of them this morning and then there is an office party this afternoon so the day should fly by. I hope everyone has a wonderful, wonderful weekend!
