I'll admit it, when it comes to certain TV shows, I have a tendancy to run them into the ground (thanks to syndication that is). Anyone who has spent a decent amount of time with me over the years knows that I can pull a Friends reference out of my hat for just about any life circumstance or situation. I have seen every episode at least three times, most more and Jake bought me the entire season boxed set for my birthday a few years ago. I actually think that when this new television season started, Friends may have stopped being shown. I have yet to come across it during the times when it was normally shown. I suppose it is being close to having run its course. So sad, but at least I can still watch the DVDs.
So it's happening again. After just 4 seasons on the air How I Met Your Mother has now gone into syndication. I didn't watch this show from the beginning but Jake and I caught up on it all via discs from Netflix. Now its on various channels (CW, Lifetime, WGN) like 4 times a day! I've been watching every episode too, I'm addicted. Of course I have to say that if this show continues like Friends did, I'm not sure I can last 10 seasons without learning who the mother is. There's a lifespan on that concept and although they haven't reached the end of it yet with their viewers I wonder when it's coming. Jake is very patient with my ability to watch the same episodes of the same sitcoms over and over. He was never a big fan of Friends but at least he likes How I Met Your Mother and doesn't groan as much when he comes home to find me watching it. Also, I'm seeing a trend here, sitcoms with groups of 5-6 friends seem to be my thing. Interesting.
It turned out to be a gorgeous Friday. My trip over to the Curbside Cookoff with my friend B was an epic failure in that even before noon the lines at the food trucks were so long and intertwined you couldn't even tell which one was which in some cases. We had a nice lunch at Capitol City Brewery instead and learned that both she and her hubby and Jake and I had our first official dates there. The similarities between our relationships are quite interesting in that she and I went to college together and we met the guys through kickball. They worked for the same company, were on the same team and are both about 4 years younger than us. And now we learn we went on the same first date! Too funny!
Jake and I are doing our usual Friday and heading down to 23rd St in Crystal City for dinner. Some friends are meeting us after dinner to catch up over drinks. I'm looking forward to this three day weekend a lot. Monday I'm finally getting my hair cut, but don't worry, I plan on keeping most of the length unlike last time. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Friends image via, HIMYM image via
