So the Redskins are up to their usual tricks. They managed to blow a 27 - 10 lead to lose in overtime after missing a very easy field goal. Sigh.
Aaaanyway... My half marathon went pretty well all things considered. My insides were not particularly agreeing with me this morning and I had to jump a bus to the start and find a port-a-potty before meeting up with my friend. I also drank too much water too far before the race. The first half went very smoothly but when I stopped for a bathroom break, which I hardly ever do in a race, I completely broke my pace and proceeded to develop a side-stitch that lasted until about mile 10. Overall though I feel pretty good about my finish time of 2 hours and 12 minutes. It wasn't the 2 hours I wanted but given the circumstances I'm happy. The most irritating part of the race was the course consisting of a gravel path from about mile 11 to mile 12.5. This made my feet hurt and slowed me down for sure. At one point, on the steepest hill I stopped to walk a little bit with a girl who seemed to really be hurting in the knees quite a bit. She was determined to finish and I give her major props for that! Jake snapped some photos, I'll get them off the camera tomorrow and post.
I've spent most of the rest of the day on the couch after grabbing lunch at the Crystal City Sports Pub. It was quite a beautiful day! Tomorrow I am in a "critical thinking" course at work all day. Should be interesting. Jake is working on condo finance stuff tonight and deciding what board position he might be interested in running for.
