Return of the Beast

Dublin has been in boarding since Friday as we were headed up to New Jersey this weekend for our friends' wedding. Since they are closed for pickups on Sundays and holidays we had a house without the jingle-jingle and patter-patter of her following us around all weekend. We took advantage of the time to clean the floors and use our new upholstery cleaner to clean our couch cushions. We're picking her up after work today and I have no doubt they'll be completely covered in dog hair by the time I get home from work tomorrow, but it's all worth it when I open my eyes in the morning to see her sitting beside the bed, staring at me, ready to start the day. Not to mention the crazy dog-kisses when I get home from work every day. It amazes me how quickly I have become a dog person and how quickly Jake has reverted back to being a dog person. I know many of you know the story of our anxiety ridden rescue lab. She has made a wonderful conversion to family pet over the past 7 months, overcoming whatever happened to her in the past which resulted in her landing in a shelter in Norfolk and I don't think we could ask for a better companion. And yes, at times she is a Colts fan and other times she's a Packers fan. I think she recognizes it's important to keep peace in the household come football season.
